GREAT BLANKET TO REPLACE MY AGEING PONCHO LINER. SUPER WARM, SUPER VERSITAL. WHILE ITS NOT THE LIGHTEST, IT DOES PACK UP SMALLISH AND IS PERFECT FOR CAR OR MOTORCYCLE CAMPING. IF YOU REPLACE A SLEEPINGBAG WITH IT THEN IT BECOMES LIGHTER AND SMALLER THAN A EQUIVILANT BAG IN A PACK.IVE SLEPT UNDER IT EVERY NIGHT SINCE WINTER STARTED. IT STUFFS INTO ITSELF TO MAKE A PRETTY COMFORTABLE PILLOW. LOVE THE FOOT POCKET TO KEEP IT ON MY FEET AT NIGHT.I bought this on a whim for a trip to Iceland where we'd be camping most of the time. I brought it as a backup blanket/pillow if anyone was cold in their sleeping bag. It wound up being used by all of us in the family at various points. In the car for napping--especially by my young son, sitting around camp in the evening, etc. Now, at home, I'm using it all the time. It's pretty warm. The nylon shell doesn't feel "cozy" but I really like it--and feel like it doesn't have to be babied. A surprisingly useful item for the price. I think it will be a frequent addition for car trips, cabin weekends, car camping, etc.Update 2/20: This has become a much loved piece of gear of mine...and my son's. It goes on every car trip. It's tough, easy to clean, and warm. Thinking about buying a second since the kid takes this one most of the time. Sits on the couch for napping when not on the road. Excellent bit of gear. Buy one.I have had this for a bit over a year. I have used it by itself in warmer weathers and also as an additional layer in colder weather.- Temperature rating: First I have used this by itself into temperatures in the mid-50s. I was borderline chilly. That was pushing it. The OEM answered a question that said to 60-degrees. They are 100% correct.- Versatility: It's totally a versatile tool. There are hand mitten holds, a footbox, drawstring (for the neck/shoulder area), snaps around foot/shoulder area and stuff sack too. It's really a very configurable blanket.- Touch & Feel: It feels soft to the touch and silky'ish. Just not as supple as silk. On par with most sleeping bag materials.- Weight: It's about 25oz. It's a tad heavy. This is about 4 oz more than my current quilt, but my quilt is a bit "too warm" in the summer season. This is a nice substitute.- I have used this on a car camping trip and added a insulation layer to my quilt in 20-degree weather. Because of it's configurability, it's a very handy blanket to have on hand.Recommended piece of gear.Update:I took this back out on the trail in a heatwave (with humidity and temps in the high 90’ F) on the AT a few months back. It was too hot to sleep in my hammock with my bug net, so I slept in a shelter. Foolishly I forgot my sleeping pad, but I ended up sleeping on my versa and used the foot box to hold my pillow. In the end the blanket was a huge help as the temps fluctuated.I used this blanket in mid 50 degree F at 700+ elevation, and it worked like a dream. I used this with a self-inflating sleeping pad (5.4 r value) while hammock camping. I didn’t need to wear extra layers as the sleeping pad and blanket worked perfectly. I like the snap buttons but didn’t need to use them this trip. The foot box absolutely came in handy. I wish this came with a compression sack because the bags it’s in doesn’t do much of anything. I highly recommend this product for warmer weather that may dip in the middle of the night. The fact that it converts into pillow is pretty cool, but it functions better as a camp blanket. Not bad but a little expensive for what it is. I used it last night in a hammock with a neo air and a fly that was barely wide enough to cover the edges of my hammock. I was in the high peaks region of the ADK and it rained most of the night. My hammock wicked water and I got a bit wet. Despite it dropping to near freezing once the rain stopped I wasn't too cold. If I hadn't got wet I may have actually slept comfortably.Pros: -It dries fast. - It's almost the perfect size, maybe a wee bit wider. (I'm 6'1" and can just cover my head) - The foot box works! - You can wear it like a quilt under your bag(I didn't bring my pack jacket because it was almost eighty the day before. I had snow on the peaks when I woke up and I used it in place of my pack jacket via the snaps) Cons: -The snaps have no real function other than what I mentioned above. -Its heavy for the protection it offers. (I have relatively inexpensive 30-degree down bag that only weighs 2 lb) -It needs draw strings!(why didn't they put drawstrings?) -It doesn't pack very small unless you fold it carefully -Its no quite wide enough to cocoon yourselfI bought this for my son to use this summer as he's travelling with drum corps. I will be honest, I balked at the price initially. But - after receiving it and him using this every week all summer long, I will sing it's praises! It is super light so adds no weight to his bag with all else he is lugging around. It is also super compact - I love that it folds up into itself and has a carry bag. It's perfect for him to toss in his duffel and take up little to no room. He loves the foot pocket, since he's often sleeping on a mattress on a gym floor - it allows him to stay covered without being encased in a hot sleeping bag. It's also warm enough, but light and cool enough that he has used it all summer. It's not too hot for him, but it is keeping him warm enough on the few chilly nights they've had. He has yet to use it in winter or really cold weather, but I'm sure it would work well then alsoThis overall is a great blanket in terms of weight (very light) and warmth (very warm/comfy). But some of the stitched areas aren’t holding up well at all and are beginning to pull out and rip the fabric. That’s the only thing I am disappointed in, with better materials/sewing this would be a top notch item. I own 2 and have had 1 for a year and the 2nd only a few months and both have the same problem. This blanket is nice, but not worth the $80 price tag. I like that it's lightweight, fits easily into the included stuff sack, and doesn't take up much room in my bag. It's very comfy and warm, and overall works for my needs. But the price is just too high; I think the $40 - $50 range would be more reasonable. Pesa solo 23 onzas / 650 gramosGanador del premio Best New Gear Award 2018 del Gear Institute.I do a lot of winter camping, backpacking, bikepacking, canoe camping, all in the backcountry. I have used this blanket on every single trip and I don't think twice about packing it now. It's light, surprisingly warm and stays warm when wet. I've been cold and drenched in a surprise thunderstorm and this blanket saved the day. In winter I clip it onto the outside of my sleeping bag to keep the condensation off the down. It's also great for wearing like a poncho by the fire so you can pack fewer layers. It's a few years old now and starting to tear but I definately got my money's worth.Versa Blanket: Great Blanket Wow, Top quality materials used and the footbox is a great idea and it works well. DOES NOT have cinch cord on one end like add says ( 1 star removed ) Everyone is different for temp rating, but approx good down to 10°c I suppose. Both blankets are perfect length for someone 6'1" like myself or 6'3" maximum.Versa Luxe Blanket: Very nice quality again, Blue color was Great choice and this soft lining is a nice touch, DOES NOT have cinch cord on one end like add says, but it's still good blanket. ( 1 Star removed )Sent Versa Luxe blanket back but Love my Austin color Versa blanket!La compré pensando en usarla ahora acampar pero le gustó a mis hijos y se tapaban con ella para ver la televisión. Es calientita y muy cómoda pero la tela (por la parte lisa) es muy delicada y delgada y se terminó desgarrando con menos de un mes de uso para una manta. No hubiera aguantado muchas acampadas. La devolví y solicité mi reembolso.Tested out for backcountry trekking in Denmark in Jul period. Night time temp low was between 12-14 deg celcius. It is comfortable if used with STS Extreme Reactor liner along with sleeping pad above 3.1. Packed size is bigger than the size of 1.5L nalgene bottle. If your backpack is 65L & above, it is not an issue.
