I have slept with my new King duvet for the past 2 weeks. It is the summer-weight, plain version (instead of the washable, quilted version) and I am completely blown away by it. It is thin and warm but never hot. It is extremely light, airy, and planted. By planted I mean it doesn't have the tendency to tug itself down as you move around. If you cover your shoulders, it will stay there, despite your sleepy movements through-out the night. For those who move around the world a lot, it comes with a zippered carrying bag (though it is very feminine). A nice little bonus, but I doubt I'll use it much.I decided on the plain version instead of the washable one because I wanted the silk to be as flowy/drapey as possible. If you think of the duvet as one big square, the silk is spread evenly inside of it and stitched down to prevent the silk from shifting. This gives the person underneath the "square" that drapey connected feeling. The quilted version boxes off the silk into several smaller squares. I think this wouldn't feel as connected because the silk isn't evenly spread out in one box anymore, but instead a bunch of smaller ones. This was my reasoning anyway, I can't be sure without a side by side comparison. In either case, the advantage of the quilted design is that it could be cleaned in a washing machine on a gentle cycle. Personally, I think washing the duvet regularly is going to shorten the product life, and probably affect the silk negatively. So for a hypothetical increase in flowy comfort, and the reality that a duvet cover is also washable, and doesn't have a filling that could be made less effective from a washing machine, I went with the plain version.Lastly, why I chose this one over others? I looked at SilkCamel's summer duvet because it had a lot of reviews and they were very positive. But it was 30 dollars more, had half as much silk filling as THXSILK's (510g or a pound in Murican where THXSILK had 2lbs), and seemed like a reseller in that SilkCamel doesn't have silk sheets, silk duvet covers, etc. THXSILK does, up to 22 Momme (pronounced mummy). ElleSilk and LilySilk are two other sellers that compete with THXSILK's product lines. ElleSilk's summer duvet is not available on Amazon, but on their website is $279 for cotton covered, king version. So at $130 increase, I went with THXSILK, especially because ElleSilk's width is 86'' as opposed to 90 from THXSILK and 92 from LilySilk. LilySilk's summer duvet was priced with SilkCamel's, was quilted, and had a 3 star review saying the silk shifted and worked its way to the edge. This was likely caused by washing the duvet (which LilySilk says is OK because of the Quilted work) but clearly still caused more harm than good, another reason why I went with THXSILK's PLAIN, Non-washable version. One could speculate that THXSILK's washable, quilted version, would eventually suffer a similar fate as LilySilk's 3 star review reported.On a Final note, THXSILK's has a package for a 22 Momme Silk Duvet Cover Set which includes a duvet cover for this comforter and fits perfectly, along with two pillow cases and a fitted sheet for $675 at the King size. This is a compelling future purchase to actually be surrounded by silk. Tax returns are around the corner. Ellesilk (who I think is the best but most expensive) and Lilysilk's Duvet Cover sets only come with the duvet cover and two pillowcases for the same price. Ellesilk offers 25 Momme duvet cover and sheets, but you'll have to pay nearly double THXSILKS 22 Momme Duvet Cover Set which may or may not be worth it for the durability and comfortability increase 25 Momme offers. For now I am sticking with my BrookLinen's Twill Cotton Duvet Cover and Sheet set. I went BrookLinen for their quality cotton bedding, and lifetime warranty. There are competitors of BrookLinen that offer great cotton / linen products just as BrookLinen does, but they do not have life time warranties. Something to consider.Overall, THXSILK is the best buy for their price, quality, and product line capability. After a lot of research, I like THXSILK as a company, and am glad to support them. I will update this review next year!I love this comforter! It is so soft and comfy. I ordered a Queen comforter for a Queen-size bed. I wish I would have ordered a King size comforter for my Queen bed, though. I consider that my own fault for not measuring, but the comforter does not hang over my bed to the floor like the photos. I can turn it sideways so it hangs over on the side (but not to the floor) or I can turn it long way so it hangs over on the end. It does hang to the bottom of the mattress where the bed skirt starts. However, that being said, the comforter is worth every penny. It is warm, soft & so, so, so comfortable. I live in Indiana and it is in the 30-degree range right now. I have my house temp set around 73 and use fans at night time. This comforter keeps me very warm. I absolutely love it! I am anxious for my duvet to get here so I can cover and protect the comforter. I hope it lasts for many years to come. I highly recommend it.Warm and Breathable, good silk comforterI would highly recommend this comforter. I live is S. Florida, and it's HOT all the time. I was in need of a high quality natural fiber comforter/quilt for all year use, light in warmth. This comforter is soft, light, breathable, and pliable almost like down but so much better. The cotton cover is soft smooth cotton, however I have my in a duvet cover, for we have pets, and I want to protect my comforter for it is not machine washable.. dry clean only(chemicals, yuk). There are many styles of duvet covers, so it is easy to change your bedroom decor, with out breaking the bank. I do air out my comforter about once month either hanging it outside or placing in the dryer on the "air" cycle. I have had this comforter for about 4 months now, and I have no issues, this is a quality item.. As with anything, read the description & reviews, compare with similar items, (do your homework) just because it's more expensive does not mean it is of better quality.This is on the gift giving list.I prefer this silk comforter to either the wool blankets or goose down duvets that I've always used. It's warm and comfortable but it has the added benefit of regulating temperature much better than the blankets or duvets. I wake up much less frequently due to feeling too warm since I got this. I purchased the spring/fall weight, which is ideal for a temperate climate.The quality of the comforter's manufacture and materials are excellent, as are the duvet cover and pillow cases that I also bought, which are made from a lovely sateen cotton. Shipping was speedier than scheduled.I have had silk comforters before but this one is far superior. It is extremely comfortable and even though it is not to thin it doesn't make me hot like most comforters do. It is wonderfulVery well packaged. I've been using this comforter / duvet set for several nights. It's so comfortable. Best I've ever used. It's so warm, but it breathes. I purchased the spring and autumn for year round use.Few days later: Ok, I'm now starting to recommend to friends and family members. I've never slept so well. It just keeps your body temperature so level. When I wake in the morning, I'm perfectly warm. It feels miraculous, I don't understand it, really, but I love it.It's not a thick comforter but should be good for spring and early fall. It can be used all year round if you have central A/C (indoor temp about 70 degrees). It keeps you warm, breathable, and very comfortable. The price is unbeatable for such high-quality mulberry silk (very long fiber). Highly recommended!Great product. Found to be a bit warm for the summer months but that's my fault for not getting a thinner duvet. Incredibly comfortable!Comforter is much better than expected.I really like it and it's a nice weight.
